[pharmacological action]
(1)Pharmacodynamics
Ceftiofur is a kind of β-lactam antibacterials, this product has broad-spectrum antibacterial action which is effective for gram positive bacteria and gram negative bacteria (including bacteria producing β-lactamase). The antibacterial mechanism is inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis and lead to bacterial death. The sensitive bacteria include Pasteurella multocida, hemolytic Pasteurella, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Salmonella, E. coli, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, some of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and enterococci are resistant. This product has strong antibacterial activity than ampicillin and stronger activity against streptococci than fluoroquinolones.
(2)Pharmacokinetics
This product can not be absorbed by oral administration, but can be absorbed rapidly by intramuscular injection and subcutaneous injection, it can spread widely but can not pass through the blood-brain barrier. The drug concentration is high in the blood and organization, and the effective drug concentration can last a very long period. The active metabolin (deoxidizing furoyl cefriofur) is formed in vivo and it can be metabolized to un-active product excreted from urine and faeces in further. The drug concentration in the blood can be improved and half-life period can be lengthened when administrated together with drugs which inhibiting excretion.
[Drug Interactions]There is synergistic effect when this drug is administrated together with penicillin and aminoglycoside drugs.
[Indication]It is used to cure chicks infection caused by E.coli.
[Usage and dosage] Subcutaneous injection: for 1-day-old chicks, 0.1-0.2mg each.
[Adverse reactions](1) May cause gastrointestinal flora disorder or superinfection. (2) May cause certain renal toxicity.
[Precaution]Mix with diluent when use.
[Withdrawal time] 0 day for chicks.
